May 25, 2019, Petaluma, CA – Starting next week on June 3, 2019, the Sonoma Mountain Parkway roadway reconstruction project will begin. Traffic will be shifted to one lane in each direction. The project has been planned in phases to make sure residents will have access to their driveways. When necessary, detours will provide access to area roads. While the City of Petaluma - Public Works and Utilities Department has taken extensive steps to reduce disruption, this roadway project will cause delays. Community members are encouraged to look for alternate routes when possible. Please slow down in the construction zone for everyone’s safety. We appreciate your patience!
The anticipated schedule is 6/3/19 to 7/4/19 - Closure of Southbound Sonoma Mountain Parkway and 7/5/19 to 8/7/19 - Closure of Northbound Sonoma Mountain Parkway. All traffic signals in the work zone will be in flash (all-way stop), construction speed zone of 25mph and the traffic control will be set up 24/7 for the duration of the project.
During construction the following road closures will be in place:
- Liverpool Way will be permanently closed during the duration of the project. Detours will be set up to use Wellington Place.
- Campus Circle North will be closed permanently and detours at the college will be set up to utilize Campus Circle South.
- Riesling Road south of Sonoma Mountain Parkway will be permanently closed and detours set up back to Sonoma Mountain Parkway or Maria Drive.
- Driveway into and out of Leghorn market Place will be closed and detours set up to Riesling or other side streets
