Jan 17, 2019, Santa Rosa—On Thursday, Jan. 17 at approximately 2:15 p.m., Santa Rosa Junior College (SRJC) District Police received a report from a female student in Analy Hall on the Santa Rosa campus. She claimed that a relative was in the building with a firearm and was “coming to kill” her.
The police immediately sent out an alert to lock down campus and went to the location of the report. They cleared the building and escorted students and employees out. A search revealed that the accused subject was not in the area and the lockdown was lifted.
Upon further questioning, the student admitted making a false report. District police did a mental health assessment and determined that she posed a risk of harm to others. She was placed on a 72-hour mental health hold. Due to the medical nature of this hold, the student’s name cannot be released.
District police are also pursuing criminal charges and the student may be investigated for student conduct violations.
This is an ongoing investigation and District Police are asking anyone with additional information regarding this case to contact the SRJC District Police Department at (707) 527-1000.
